Founded in 2004, eyemats was born from owner Kevin Thorndycroft’s vision to address a clear gap in the market: the need for historic properties to protect their floors without compromising their visual integrity.

With years of experience and a keen eye for detail Kevin was able to recognise that the traditional solutions, such as plain coloured druggets, often detracts from the grander and elegance of their heritage interiors. As visitor numbers to these historic sites grow, so does the wear and tear to original flooring which prompts the need for a more thoughtful and aesthetically pleasing solution.

Today, eyemats offer not only bespoke protective floor coverings worldwide, but we also provide canvas prints, chair covers and even, to an extent, artwork replicas; each created with dedication to the accuracy and even repairing some images to revive and preserve the history. Eyemats’ mission is to enhance and preserve the beauty of historic properties, allowing them to be seen and experienced as they once were.
